Last Red Flag

3/11/10
Today is the last Red Flag day and I am extremely excited about it. I could be at a lacrosse tailgate but instead I am here writing about my progress in the WISE program. to officially get out of my red flag class I must have my mentor/tutor sign a progress form to show Ms. Lord that I am a actually doing something. She also must look at my blog and make sure I am keeping up with my journal. On this form she must make comments good or bad and sign at the end.

3/4/10
Last two week I have been busy. I have to get through chapters one and two to get to my first flight lesson. Chapter one is broken into many sections, section A goes over the basic of being a pilot. I'm taking Cornell notes on the sections as I read them, some terms I am using flash cards for. At the end of each chapter there is a test but I am confused on where I take it. One of my goals this week is to contact my instructor and find out about testing. Something I learned this week that I never knew is that you need to be at least 17 years old to hold a pilots license. I'm studying FAR which is Federal Aviation Regulations, these are rules not only for flying a plane but for construction for planes as well. I'm surprised on how easy it has been getting through this chapter has been. even though there is a lot to read I am enjoying it. I have also been working on my bibliography that i submitted to wise I added a article to my blog that was in today's Ithaca Journal and watch several movies during the snow days. I've decided to do a blog a day and I'm happy with my progress

Red Flag

Red Flag Journal #1 February 15th

Over the winter break we just had, I spent most of my time finding videos to watch for my research. Also I went to set up an appointment with David St. Gorge the head of the East Hill Flying Club. It took me a while to get a hold of him guessing he was really busy but when i did we set a time and place for me to officially sign up and get the flight processes on the road

Also in the past week i had to get a physical from the doctor to be admitted into the program and to make sure i am physical and mentally fit to fly.
I meet with my mentor every school day and we go over my progress and set goals today's goal was to be officially signed up for lessons and she said if I i did not have the form by Monday I shouldn't even show up to see her. So that gave me the initiative to work on the project on my own.
I have been keeping up with my journal entry's and trying to stay ahead of the game. This will be my 7th entry in the past two weeks. I have been putting in well detailed information.
My plans for the next week is to collect all of my text for this project and start hitting the books.
